Servants refuse to receive NAB questionnaire at Fazl residence
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A questionnaire sent to Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman by the National Accountability Bureau, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, regarding his assets could not be delivered to him by the post office concerned as he was twice not available at his residence here.
Official sources said the questionnaire, including assets declaration pro forma related to an ongoing investigation regarding assets of the Maulana, was sent through registered mail by NAB a few days ago, instead of serving the same through the local police.
The staff of Shorkot Post Office here tried to deliver the questionnaire twice on Dec 22 and 23, but the servants present at the entrance of the Maulana residence informed them that he was not available, and thus refused to receive it on his behalf.
The post office in charge confirmed to Dawn that the staff tried to deliver the registered mail but they could not reach Maulana Fazl following which the questionnaire was sent back to Peshawar.
He said NAB Peshawar had a letter registry and it was not to be given to anyone other than Maulana Fazlur Rehman so it could not be delivered due to his absence.
Sources said the NAB KP had sent a questionnaire consisting of 26 questions to Mr Rehman, to which he had to submit a reply till Dec 24.
The questionnaire is related to his properties and his relations with certain persons having suspected illegal properties.
The accountability watchdog has also asked the Maulana to provide details of assets belonging to him and his family members and details of properties purchased by him on his name or that of any other person.
