Shujaat advises govt to defer uplift plans, focus on poverty alleviation

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has advised the PTI government to defer its all development projects for a year to exclusively focus on elimination of poverty.

“The government needs to develop a one-year short term plan for elimination of poverty in the country. Politicians should brush aside differences and work for mitigating the problems of the people,” he said in a statement here on Friday.

He said his party would fully participate in any initiative to address unemployment and other economic problems of the people. He said whenever the army came to power it took measures strictly for the well-being and welfare of the people without caring for anyone.

Chaudhry Shujaat said corruption was not the name of just taking and giving bribe but hoarding and increasing prices of essential articles at will was also a kind of corruption.

“Everyone concentrates on corruption of some personalities but nobody bothers about those committing corruption technically,” he said and added the salaried class suffered the most because of the price hike.

He said governments caring for the people lived in hearts.

“The PTI government should take it as a challenge to end difficulties of the people in next two and half years and concentrate only on addressing the real problems of the people,” he said.
