117th birth anniversary of G.M. Syed held in Sann
DADU: Sindh United Party chairman Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah has demanded that federal government end its control over Port Qasim Authority and Karachi Port Trust and declare them property of the Sindh government.
The federal government should also hand over all islands located in Sindh and Balochistan to the two provincial governments, Shah said while addressing the 117th birth anniversary program of the founder of Jeay Sindh Tehreek G.M. Syed at his bungalow on the bank of Indus River in Sann town on Sunday.
He said that Sindh produced huge amounts of oil, gas and coal which were property of the province hence their ownership be given to Sindh. Despite having huge reserves of natural resources Sindhi people faced abject poverty, which was increasing by the day due to wrong policies of rulers, he said.
He said that massive corruption in Sindh and other provinces had destroyed all departments and demanded an end to political interference in NAB, FIA and anti- corruption departments and arrest of all influential people involved in corruption.
SUP wants centre to hand over ports and KPT to Sindh
He said that despite having committed corruption of billions of dollars the corrupt were not arrested and the looted money was not recovered and corruption was increasing by each passing day.
He asked the federal and Sindh governments to implement decision of Supreme Court and remove all illegal encroachments from state land. Sindh was already deprived of its basic rights hence the federal government should not interfere in provincial health department and hospitals working under Sindh government, he said.
Shah said that illegal immigrants were a burden on Sindh and demanded that all Burmese, Bengalis and Afghanis and be repatriated to their countries.
He demanded recovery of all missing political activists.
SUP senior vice chairman Syed Zain Shah said that G.M. Syed loved people of Sindh and his motherland, hence he wanted to see them develop.
Sindh Taraqqi-pasand Party chairman Dr Qadir Magsi said that G.M. Syed was not only a politician but a great scholar and philosopher, who never budged from his principles.
Jamaat-i-Islami’s Asadullah Bhutto, Senator Usman Kakar of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party and Awami National Party leader Younis Bonir said that G.M. Syed was a great statesman who was an institution embodied.
Activists of SUP, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, National Party Pakistan, Balochistan National Party, Awami Tehreek, STP, Awami Jamhoori Party, Awami Workers Party also attended the anniversary program.
Earlier, SUP leaders and activists offered fateha and laid wreaths on G.M. Syed’s grave, while JSQM-Bashir, JSQM-Arisar, JSM, JSQP held separate gatherings near the grave and cut cakes. Sindh Qoumi Party leader Nawaz Zounr also and offered fateha on the grave.
JSM to hold protest before Sindh Assembly on Feb 21 Jeay Sindh Mahaz chairman Riaz Chandio said that a demonstration would be held before Sindh Assembly on Feb 21 to protest against government failure to provide jobs to thousands of educated youths, issuance of domiciles to outsiders and other issues faced by Sindhis.
