Chitral man held for flogging boy over hen theft

CHITRAL: The Drosh police on Monday arrested a retired army man for flogging a teenager in the public over theft of a hen after a video showing a 13-year-old boy hanging upside down tied to a tree branch by rope went viral on social media earlier in the day.

In the video believed to be taken in Sheshi Lusht village near Drosh, a large number of villagers look on with some of them imploring the flogger to pardon the boy and let him go.

Following the incident, Lower Chitral deputy commissioner Hassan Abid ordered arrest of the flogger.

The accused, Amir Fayaz, has been booked under sections 341, 341, 500, 337, 34, 37 and 44 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
