Schoolteacher booked for ‘torturing’ student
TAXILA: A schoolteacher of Government Primary School in Pindigheb was booked and suspended on Friday for subjecting a minor student to corporal punishment.
According to sources, due to severe punishment eight-year-old Ahsan Ali fractured his hand and had bruises.
When the child returned home while crying in pain, his father took him to the local police station to lodge complaint.
When contacted, investigating officer ASI Mohammad Ayub said police took the student for medical examination which confirmed torture on minor.
Police have registered a criminal case against the teacher under section 328-A of Pakistan Penal Code.
When contacted, Chief executive officer District education authority Dr Javed Iqbal said that soon after the incident came into the notice of the education authorities, a probe committee headed by deputy district officer education was constituted to examine the case and investigate the incident.
He said the teacher was suspended from service and action would be initiated against the said teacher under Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability Act, 2006.
Man dies in road accident
A man died after being hit by a speeding dumper on G.T. Road in the jurisdiction of Hassanabdal police station on Friday.
The victim was identified as 85-year-old Umer Sadiq. The driver managed to escape after the accident. A case has been registered against him and further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, a woman, 30, and her mother-in-law, 60, sustained burn injuries after fire broke out in their house located in Mohallah Awan Shareef in Attock.
District Emergency Officer Dr Ishfaq Mian said the fire started in the kitchen. The injured were shifted to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital. Rescue firefighters extinguished the fire.
Furthermore, Attock police during a crackdown against persons involved in illegal kite trading across the district arrested five people.
Attock Khurd police recovered 720 kites and 24 string rolls from Mohammad Sadiq and Naik Mohammad, Hassanabdal police arrested Jalil Ahmed and Ahmed Raza and recovered 285 kites and 15 string rolls while Jand police arrested Mohammad Waqas and recovered 40 kites from his possession.
