Frontline workers get vaccinated in DG Khan
DERA GHAZI KHAN: Vaccination of first dose of Sinopharm against Covid-19 began here.
Chief Executive Officer Health Dr Khalil Sikhani presented himself for vaccination to create confidence among the front line health workers of the district. He told Dawn that 1,200 doses of the vaccination had been received by the health department and 500 front line workers had been administered the first dose.
They were from the teaching hospitals of Dera Ghazi Khan, tehsil headquarters hospitals of Taunsa Sharif and Kot Chhutta and civil hospital Sakhi Sarwar. He said every front line worker would get two doses of the vaccine and more consignments would reach the district to accomplish the task.
As many as 136 employees of the Rescue 1122 had also been vaccinated against Covid-19.
TYPHOID: A team comprising Unicef representative, Deputy Secretary Health Qaisar Abbas, Director Immunization Punjab Dr Bashir Sadique and Dr Khalil Sikhani visited various centres meant for administering vaccination against typhoid to children from 9 to 15 years.
Dr Sikhani said 251,171 children would be vaccinated against typhoid in DG Khan.
Dr Sadique said 12 million children of twelve districts would be vaccinated in the first phase of the campaign.
Master planning: Master planning of the Dera Ghazi Khan city has been initiated under the project funded by the Asian Development Bank.
The mega project of master planning of the city was launched on the directions of Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and a team has reached Dera Ghazi Khan for the purpose.
Under the project, the town planning and a revamp of transport, sewage, solid waste and water supply systems would be done.
When contacted, DG Khan Commissioner Dr Irshad Ahmed said the ADB would fund the project. He added that geo mapping of the city was under way and a meeting of committee had already been held in which the head of the Turkish company, executing the project, also participated.
