LAHORE: A woman was shot dead allegedly by her son at Liaqatabad (Dhalla) on Sunday.

Police said Shehzadi, 45, was sitting in her house in Liaqatabad Colony when her elder son, Ahmad Zulfiqar, demanded money from his mother. He got angry when his mother refused to give him money. He pulled out a gun and shot his mother dead. He fled after the incident.

Police shifted the body to morgue for autopsy and registered the case on complaint of victim’s husband Zulfiqar.

Zulfiqar told the media he was standing outside his house when he heard the gunshots. He rushed to his home and saw his elder son (Ahmad) holding a gun and the younger one trying to snatch it from him. He said Ahmed escaped with the gun.

He said his wife was taken to nearby hospital where she was declared dead.

SHO Jam Jahangir said the suspect and his mother were drug addicts and they had a monetary clash.

He said a team had been constituted to arrest the suspect.
