BHC allows Hashmi, Tareen to contest Senate elections

QUETTA: The Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Friday rejected petitions against Saeed Ahmed Hashmi, founder of the Balochistan Awami Party, and Sajid Tareen of the Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP) and allowed them to contest Senate election.

A BHC bench comprising Chief Justice Jamal Khan Man­dokhail and Justice Abdul Hameed Baloch heard the petitions.

The petition against acceptance of nomination of papers of Mr Hashmi was filed by BNP-M leader Musa Jan Baloch. The court rejected the plea of the petitioner and allowed Mr Hashmi to contest the election for a technocrat seat.

The bench also heard another petition filed by a citizen namely Khalid against acceptance of nomination papers of Mr Tareen, a candidate for general and technocrat seats. The court rejected the petition and allowed Mr Tareen to participate in the election.
