Swabi police conduct mock rescue operation at hospital

SWABI: The district police conducted a mock rescue operation at a hospital here on Thursday on how to protect the patients in case of an emergency.

The operation was conducted on the directives of district police officer Imran Shahid and all the DSPs and SHOs participated in it. It was aimed at dealing with any eventuality in the district hospitals and health centres. Members of other related bodies also participated in the mock exercise to enhance their coordination.

Mr Shahid said on the occasion that such exercises would help all the concerned departments and prepare them for any emergency situation and making a strategy while keeping in mind the national requirements.

During the operation, a mock contact was made with the police department about surfacing of a difficult situation and the police force responded and acted accordingly.

The DSPs said the rehearsal was held to make the patients and health department staff more confident that they were safe and could perform their duty without any fear while treating the ailing community. They said that such exercises were vital to prepare for dealing with an emergency situation.

DRUGS SEIZED: The police foiled an attempt of smuggling narcotics to Punjab on Thursday, said SP investigation Banaras Khan. Addressing a press conference, he said that following a tip-off they stopped a car (FC 260) and on checking they recovered 40kg of opium and over 8kg of charas from its secret sections.

He said the police also recovered a Kalashnikov from the car and arrested one Jawad Khan of Swabi. An FIR has been registered against the suspect under the Narcotics Act in Swabi city police station.
