Gunfire causes panic at Swabi college hostel

SWABI: Unknown miscreants opened firing on the boys’ hostel of a private college here on Friday night, creating panic among the students.

Students told Dawn that it was just before midnight when some unidentified elements opened fire on the hostel building. “A student became unconscious and was taken to the Bacha Khan Hospital Complex, Shahmansoor,” said a student on condition of anonymity. He said most of students left for homes on Saturday.

Other students said academic staff reached the hostel in the morning, checked the building, and promised to enhance security of the premises.

Separately, a man shot dead a neighbour after an argument on Saturday. The incident occurred in Gulu Dheri area in the jurisdiction of Swabi city police station.

The deceased was identified as Nawaz Khan.

An FIR was registered against the accused.
