FDA proposes ring road, stadium and 1,500 Naya Pakistan houses

FAISALABAD: The Faisalabad Development Authority has suggested the government to build Faisalabad ring road, a technology park in the FDA City, an international cricket stadium, besides about 1,500 houses under the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme.

This was stated by FDA Director General Sohail Khwaja in a briefing to Commissioner Saqab Manan and others on Monday.

He said the FDA’s financial condition was being improved as its revenue recovery had exceeded Rs1 billion, mainly because of some reforms.

The work on the FDA City project had been accelerated, he said, adding that outstanding amounts were also being recovered from the defaulters of the housing scheme.

Similarly, he said funds had also been raised by selling the canceled and nonallocated plots through public auction.

He said as many as Rs380 million had been provided to the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) for the provision of electricity to the FDA City.

He said Rs10m had been spent on the project’s boundary wall improvement of cleanliness there.

He said systematic tree planting had been ensured in the scheme and conditions of its parks, roads, water supply, sewerage had also been improved.

The DG claimed that disputes with different parties had also been resolved amicably.

He said planning was underway with the help of the Traffic and Engineering Planning Agency (Tepa) to improve traffic flow in the city.

A crackdown was underway against the illegal housing schemes by sealing their offices and demolition of their structures.

The commissioner appreciated the reforms introduced in the FDA, particularly to improve its financial health.

FDA governing body chairman Latif Nazar also spoke.
