Two held for assaulting boy in Swabi
SWABI: The police on Tuesday arrested two suspects for allegedly assaulting a boy inside a mill in the Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate here.
The action was taken after the boy belonging to Bara village lodged an FIR with the Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate police station, stating that he was returning to work after attending washroom when two men allegedly subjected him to sexual assault.
He said the men also made a video with their mobile phones and threatened him that if he disclosed the incident to anyone the video would be shared on social media.
When contacted, DSP Topi Iftikhar Ali Khan told Dawn that soon after registration of the case they arrested the suspects identified as Zarif Khan and Saifur Rehman.
ENVOY VISITS SCHOOL: Australian High Commissioner Dr Geoffrey Shaw along with a delegation on Tuesday visited an under-construction government girls higher secondary school in Kalu Khan, which is being funded by the Foreign Commonwealth Development Office and the Australian government.
Deputy commissioner Shahid Mehmood and the district police officer were also present on the occasion.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa School Construction and Development Programme (KP-SCRP) is executing the project.
Speaking at a function on the occasion, organised by the Project Implementation Unit of KP-SCRP, project director Zafaraullah Khan Khattak highlighted the overall scope of the project, saying different portions of the school had been constructed within a short period of 10 to 14 months at a cost of Rs79 million.
Later, the delegates visited the various under-construction blocks of the school, and appreciated the design and quality of work.
The Australian envoy along with the school principal and the female district education officer also witnessed activities in the classrooms. The diplomat also planted an Araucaria plant on the premises of the school.
