Chief liaison officers named for all Swabi police stations
SWABI: The police have named the chief liaison officers (CLOs) and established their offices in all the 10 police stations of the Swabi district to facilitate and guide people on how to register FIRs and other complaints with the police.
District police officer Mohammad Sohaib Khan stated this while addressing members of jirga here on Wednesday.
Saying that the CLOs would help bridge the gap between the police and the people, Mr Sohaib said: “I will personally monitor their activities.”
“If they indulge in any wrongdoing they will be dealt with under the law,” he vowed.
“As the jirga members are well-versed with the affairs of the society they can help the police arrest the unscrupulous elements and maintain peace in the district,” Mr Sohaib said.
On the occasion, Mumtaz Khan, a senior jirga member from Razaar tehsil, said drug smugglers, including those selling ice drug, should be dealt with an iron hand to purge the society of the menace, especially among youngsters.
Ayaz Khan, another jirga member, sought action against the land grabbers.
Saleem Khan, former provincial general secretary of Awami National Party, feared that drug addiction among youth would destroy the society, and called for punitive action against those selling the contraband to the youngsters.
Mehmoodul Hassan, former Jamaat-i-Islami district chief, asked the police to be serious in purging the society of criminals.
Mohammad Rashid, former safety commission chairman, said they would cooperate with the police in eradication of social evils from the society.
The participants asked the police to ensure early arrest of the people involved in a robbery incident in Shahmansoor Township and killing of a money changer.
The police officials assured that they would soon reach the culprits.
