Abida Parveen, Faisal Edhi among 88 conferred civil awards by President Alvi

President Dr Arif Alvi on Tuesday conferred civil awards on 88 Pakistani and foreign nationals in recognition of their services in different fields during a ceremony at Aiwan-i-Sadr.

The awards included six Nishan-i-Imtiaz, three Hilal-i-Imtiaz, 24 Sitara-i-Shuja'at, eight Sitara-i-Imtiaz, 14 President's Award for Pride of Performance, one Sitara-i-Quaid-i-Azam, one Sitara-i-Khidmat, one Tamgha-i-Pakistan, 22 Tamgha-i-Shuja'at and eight Tamgha-i-Imtiaz, according to Radio Pakistan.

At the investiture ceremony held in connection with Pakistan Day, the recipients were honoured for showing excellence in fields such as medicine, education, social services, fine arts, and for showing gallantry in the war against terrorism and during the coronavirus pandemic.

The personalities who received the Nishan-i-Imtiaz were Sadeqain Naqvi (Art), Abida Parveen (Singing), Ahmad Faraz (Literature), Prof Shakir Ali (Art), Zahoorul Haq (Art), and Dr Jameel Jalibi (Literature).

The Sitara-i-Imtiaz was conferred on Prof Dr Farhan Saif (Education), Bushra Ansari (Arts), Muhammad Imran Qureshi (Arts), Sultana Siddiqui (Television Production), Syed Farooq Qaiser (Arts), Rana Irfan Shakeel Ramay, Col Farooq Shahbaz (Public Service), and Pir Syed Lakht-e-Hasnain (Philanthropy).

The President's Award for Pride of Performance was received by Maulana Tariq Jameel (Religious Scholar), Mohammed Ali Shehki (Singing), Resham (Acting), Humayun Saeed (Acting), Ali Zafar (Singing), Ruth Wenny Lekardal (Services), Prof Dr Khalid Masood Gondal (Education), Naimat Sarhadi (Film), Hina Nasrullah (Sufi singing), Sarmad Sehbai (Literature), Indu Mariam Mitha (Dancing), Farhan Mehboob (Sports: squash), Abdul Majeed Qureshi (Philanthropy) and Muhammad Faheem (Arts).

The Tamgha-i-Imtiaz was awarded to Muhammad Tahir Javed, Zeba Shehnaz (Acting), Hameedullah Shah Hashmi, Faisal Edhi (Public Service), Syed Aamir Mehmood, retired Capt Muhammad Ilyas,Farid Ahmed Khan and Omar Saeed.

The Hilal-i-Imtiaz was given to Prof Dr Anwarul Hassan Gillani (Science: pharmaceutical), Dr Asif Mahmood Jah and Syed Javed Anwar.

The Sitara-i-Quaid-i-Azam was awarded to Prof Dr Tariq Shafi, Sitara-i-Khidmat to Richard Geary Horwitz (USA) and Tamgha-i-Pakistan to Jane Teller (Denmark) for services to Pakistan.

Personalities who received the Sitara-i-Shuja'at for their gallantry were Jawad Qamar, Safia Shaheed, Malik Hayatullah, Malik Sardar Khan Shaheed, Mumtaz Khan Shaheed, Hayatullah Khan Dawar Shaheed, Malik Muhammad Niaz Khan Shaheed, Sepoy Akhtar Khan Shaheed, Muhammad Naveed Sadiq, Mahar Muhammad Yasir Manzoor Shaheed, Shafqatullah Malik, Dr Mustafa Kamal Pasha Shaheed, Prof Hafiz Maqsood Ahmad Shaheed, Dr Bashir Ahmed Shaheed, Dr Khalid Masood Qaisrani Shaheed, Dr Muhammad Asif Shaheed, Dr Shafqatullah Shaheed, Dr Younas Channa Shaheed, Dr Wilayat Ali Gopang Shaheed, Prof Dr Muhammad Javed Shaheed, Munir Khan Shaheed, Dr Usama Riaz, Malik Ashdar Shaheed and Dr Muhammad Akhlaq Shaheed.

The president awarded the Tamgha-i-Shuja'at to Fida Hussain (Gilgit-Baltistan), Ali Aftab Tarar (Punjab), Syed Shahzad Hassan (Punjab), Haroon Rashid Khan (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Fakhar ud Din (Punjab), Mian Khan (Punjab), Muhammad Faheem Raza Khan (Sindh), Malik Wasid Khan (KP), Molvi Gul Dad Khan (KP), Malik Aslam Noor Khan (KP), Muhammad Rafi Shaheed (KP), Daud Khan Shaheed (KP), Alam Zeb Shaheed (KP), Allah Rakha (Azad Jammu & Kashmir), Shakeela Naz Shaheed (KP), Ghuncha Sartaj Shaheed (KP), Aetzaz Ahmed Goraya (Balochistan), Sajid Khan Mohmand (KP), Shahid Ali Shaheed, Muhammad Iftikhar Shaheed, Khuda Yar Shaheed and Hassan Ali Shaheed.
