Vaccination of Shehbaz ordered
LAHORE: An accountability court on Thursday allowed an application of Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif, an under-trial prisoner of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), and directed the Punjab home department to get him vaccinated against Covid-19 pandemic within two days.
Earlier, the jail officials presented Shehbaz before the court for hearing of money laundering reference against his family. Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz, who is on bail, also appeared before the court.
During the hearing, Shehbaz stated that he was over 60 years of age and needed to be vaccinated against coronavirus. He also complained about delay in the reports of his other medical tests.
Presiding Judge Jawadul Hassan directed the additional secretary (home) to ensure vaccination of Shehbaz within two days.
The defence also cross-examined a prosecution witness namely Tanvir Hussain, a deputy commissioner of Inland Revenue department.
The judge adjourned further hearing till Friday (today) for testimony of more witnesses.
Another accountability court also adjourned hearing of Ramzan Sugar Mills reference till April 8 after the testimony of a prosecution witnesses. Later the officials took Shehbaz back to the jail.
Leaders of PML-N including Amir Muqam, Marriyum Aurangzeb and retired Capt Muhammad Safdar visited the court to meet Shehbaz.
