Man arrested for assaulting girl in Swabi

SWABI: The police arrested a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a 12-year-old-girl in Anbar village of Chota Lahor tehsil here on Friday.

Chota Lahor city police SHO Altaf Khan told mediapersons that the girl came to a nearby shop for purchasing cotton and a man identified as Atif Khan allegedly took her to a deserted place by force. The incident occurred in Batlasi area of Anbar village.

The SHO said people rushed to save the girl when she cried for help.

He said the accused fled the area, but an FIR had been registered against him under section 376, 506, 53 CPA in Chota Lahor city police station.

District police officer Mohammad Shoaib Khan directed SHO Altaf to trace the accused.

When contacted, Mr Altaf told this correspondent that the suspect had been arrested and in the preliminary investigation he admitted that he had assaulted the girl.

Meanwhile, the police arrested 58 suspects in a search operation in the mountainous Gadoon Amazai region on Friday.

DPO Shoaib said the suspects would have to go through the investigation process and those who proved innocent would be released.

Also in the day, it was announced by officials of the district administration that anti-polio vaccination campaign would start in the district on Saturday (today). The police said that they had completed security arrangements for the campaign.

WORKSHOP: A one-day workshop on ‘communication skills for health workers’ was organised by Gajju Khan Medical College here on Friday. Dr Sahibzada Khalid facilitated the workshop.

The house officers, medical officers and paramedical staff were trained on how they could politely deal with the patients during their visit to the hospital for treatment.

They were also briefed about the skills to communicate with seniors, juniors, patients and their attendants.

Bacha Khan Hospital Complex, Shahmansoor, chief executive Prof Dr Fassehuz Zaman gave a lecture on medical ethics and medical and general etiquettes and told the participants that many issues were solved if ethical approach was established towards patients.
