Shop owner bludgeoned to death in Kalri

KARACHI: A 29-year-old man was murdered in the Kalri area, police said on Saturday.

They added that Naveed Khan was killed by his employee, Abdul Sattar alias Rashid. The murder appeared to be an outcome of some monetary dispute.

The police said the victim owned an auto spare parts shop near the Mauripur truck stand. The suspect had allegedly committed a fraud and took away his employer’s money. As Khan demanded his money back, the suspect called him at his flat in Lyari’s Kalri area late on Friday night where he killed him. City SSP Sarfaraz Nawaz said the suspect along with his mother and brother wrapped the body in a bedspread and brought it outside their apartment when area people spotted blood and raised alarm.

By the time police arrived at the scene the suspect had already escaped, he said, adding that the police detained his mother, Bashira, and brother Asif and recovered the murder weapon, a hard and blunt instrument.
