Bureaucracy termed hurdle to merger plan implementation

KHYBER/BAJAUR: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MPA from South Waziristan, Naseerullah Wazir, on Saturday accused the bureaucracy of creating hurdles to the implementation of merger plan and said the people of merged tribal districts were now disappointed with the existing administrative setup.

Addressing separate press conferences here at Bara and Jamrud press clubs, Mr Wazir stated that the people of merged districts were deprived of reaping the fruit of the Fata-KP merger at the behest of bureaucracy while the government failed to fulfil its promises made with the people of border regions.

“Instead of bridging the gulf between the government and ordinary citizens of tribal districts, the bureaucracy is widening this gulf and keeping themselves out of reach of masses,” he added.

PTI MPA says govt has failed to fulfil promises

Flanked by Balochistan Awami Party MPA in KP Assembly Shafeeq Sher, MPA Wazir said escalation in armed disputes over ownership of lands in different parts of merged districts was the result of government’s failure to expeditiously implement the merger plan.

Mr Wazir said he along with some other lawmakers and educated tribal youth had started efforts to press the government for providing relief to the people of tribal districts.

He suggested that the government should make the required legislation in the provincial assembly with the consultation of MPAs, tribal elders and civil society members to put an end to the current unrest.

In Bajaur, MPA Naseerullah Wazir on Saturday announced formation of Qabail Islahi Tehreek (tribal reforms movement) to push the government for implementation of the reforms in tribal districts in letter and spirit.

He made the announcement at a press conference at Bajaur Press Club, which was also attended by local PTI workers.

He said they had formed the movement to push the government for speedy implementation of the reforms in tribal districts. He said they would meet the KP chief minister and others relevant officials to know their views about the early implementation of the reforms.
