Another case registered against LB representatives

TAXILA: The chairperson of the district council Attock along withher four party leaders and about 50 supporters were booked by the police on the charge of entering their offices forcibly, holding the council session illegally besides damaging official record and property.

According to the first investigation report (FIR) lodged at the city police station by Imran Shehzad, personal assistant to the administrator of the tehsil council,Eman Tahir, the PTI chairperson of the district council, along with a number of union council chairmen and vice chairmen entered the premises and later broke the locks of the hall and held a session of the district council “illegally”.

Police on the complaint of the official registered a case against the chairperson district council, three other local PTI leaders and 50 unidentified persons under Section 147 and 149 Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

On March 25, the Supreme Court declared the dissolution of local government institutions by the Punjab government as unconstitutional. On May 5, 2019, around 56,000 elected local government officials of Punjab were sent packing.

Commenting over the registration of the first investigation report (FIR) lodged by officials of the district administration, chairperson Eman Tahir said that there are anomalies and ambiguity in the case registered against her and other party workers.

She said that she held the session on March 29 and the case was registered after a lapse of two days on March 31, which speaks volumes about the “victimisation” by the district administration.
