Elderly transgender shot dead in Korangi home
KARACHI: A transgender person was shot dead in Korangi on Monday, according to police.
They added that 65-year-old M. Siddique alias Mumtaz was killed in his Gulshan-i-Latif house.
Awami Colony SHO Humayun Ahmed Khan said that the victim was the ‘guru’ of transgender persons in the area. He was sitting along with three others in the house when armed pillion riders emerged there. One of them stayed outside while the second one entered the house, fired two shots after confirming Mumtaz’s identity and rode away, he said.
He suffered critical bullet wounds and was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where doctors pronounced him dead.
The officer said an initial probe suggested that the murder appeared to be an outcome of some “jealousy”.
Man shot dead by robbers
A young man was shot dead by robbers on the outskirts of the city on Monday afternoon.
Edhi Foundation spokesperson said that Shakeel, 28, was shot at and wounded by robbers upon resistance at a restaurant near Hub Chowki. He suffered critical bullet wounds and was brought to a private hospital, where he died during treatment.
Prize bonds worth Rs30m looted
Robbers snatched prize bonds worth Rs30 million in the Jamshed Quarters area on Monday, according to police.
Area SHO Javed Brohi said that Kashan, the rider of a local builder, was on his way to deposit the prize bonds in a bank when six suspects on motorbikes intercepted him on the main road. They snatched the bonds from him and rode away.
The officer said it appeared that the robbers had some “inside” information and chased the bike rider.
