Six Bahawalnagar policemen sacked in kidnap-for-ransom case

BAHAWALNAGAR: District Police Officer (DPO) Zaffar Buzdar on Thursday dismissed six police officials of the B-Division police from service for kidnapping two citizens for ransom.

The dismissed officials include B-Division SHO Matloob Ahmed, investing officer Sub-Inspector Jawad Ajmal and constables Muzaffar Ahmed, Muhammad Sajid, Aqib Ali and Ahsan Qadir.

According to the DPO, SP (investigation) Farooq Anwar had conducted an inquiry into allegations against the officials and found them guilty.

The assistant inspector general of police (inquiries) has also issued directions for registration of a first information report (FIR) against the Bahawalnagar B-Division SHO and arrest of four officials, including a sub-inspector, in the kidnap-for-ransom case registered with the Pakpattan’s Rang Shah Police Station.

The IGP had taken notice of a report published in Dawn on April 3 and directed the AIG (Inquiries) Ibadat Nisar to conduct an inquiry into the matter.

In a letter, the SDPO Arifwala, Rang Shah SHO Rana Tanveer, investigating officer Mansab Ali, complainant Ali Zaman, victims Muhammad Manzoor and Khursheed Qamar, B Division SHO Matloob Ahmed, Sub-Inspector Jawad Ajmal and constables Sajid, Aqib and Muzaffar were directed to present themselves for the inquiry on April 8.

According to police sources, after recording the statements of the victims and Pakpattan police officials, the AIG found B-Division SHO Matloob Ahmed guilty and directed the IO to nominate him in the FIR of the case.

Furthermore, the AIG showed displeasure over the delay of two months in action against the officials and directed the Pakpattan police to arrest the officials immediately.

The sources claimed that no official of the B-Division police appeared for the inquiry. IO ASI Mansab Ali said as per the directions of the AIG, the B-Division SHO would be included in the case whereas the accused officials had got pre-arrest bails in the case.

It is pertinent to mention here that two days ago, Bahawalnagar DPO Zaffar Buzdar had suspended B-Division SHO Matloob Ahmed after an inquiry. The five other officials had also been declared guilty by SP (Investigation) Bahawalnagar Farooq Ahmed a day earlier after an inquiry.
