Passport office sought in Khyber
KHYBER: The Awami Muslim League (Khyber chapter) president Kashif Afridi has demanded of the government to open a passport office in Khyber district.
Speaking at ‘Meet the Press’ programme in Landi Kotal Press Club on Friday, he said presently the residents of Khyber district had to spend money on travel to Peshawar to get new passports or renew the old ones.
Mr Afridi, who is also his party’s chief convener for the merged districts, said Tirah valley had great tourism potential which should be explored on priority, which would also generate employment opportunities for the local educated youth.
He demanded proper facilities at Torkham border for speedy clearance of trade goods which, he said, would double the volume of bilateral trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
He said the police in tribal region should be given all perks and privileges granted to the personnel in other parts of KP. He also demanded gas supply to all parts of Khyber district.
