Miley Cyrus’ tribute to Hannah Montana

Miley Cyrus has paid tribute to “the greatest gift a girl could ask for” on the 15th anniversary of the series, Hannah Montana, which made her a star.

On Twitter, Miley posted a two-page letter addressed to the character she played for four seasons on Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana. Cyrus recounts the memorable moments she experienced while filming the show and thanked the character for kick starting her career.

Cyrus was 13 in March 2006 when the series premiered. It was one of the network’s highest-rated premiere episodes ever, bolstered by its “High School Musical” lead-in.

“Breathing life into you for those six years was an honour. I am indebted not only to you Hannah, but to any and everyone who believed in me from the beginning,” Cyrus wrote.

Rare Van Gogh masterpiece sold

A rare painting by Vincent Van Gogh has been sold at auction by Sotheby’s Paris for 13.1 million euros ($15.4 million). The sale of “Street Scene in Montmartre” was highly anticipated as it was one of the few paintings by the Dutch impressionist master to still have been in private hands. The work had remained in the same family collection for more than 100 years, out of the public eye.

The painting depicts a windmill named the Pepper Mill, seen from the street under a bright sky, with a man, a woman and a little girl walking in front of wooden palisades that surrounded the place. It was painted in 1887, while Van Gogh was lodging with his brother, Theo, in Montmartre.

Elton John brings rare music for fans

Recently, Elton John celebrated his 74th birthday with a very rare present for his fans. John has made six deep cuts that are available on streaming and digital formats for the first time, including the tune “Scarecrow,” which began John’s legendary song writing partnership with Bernie Taupin in 1967.

The other songs are: “Holiday Inn,” “Keep It a Mystery,” “Smokestack Children,” “Two of a Kind” and “Conquer the Sun.”

The songs will be added to the digital version of the collection Elton: Jewel Box, which was first released in November and contains more than 100 rare songs spanning 1965 to 2019.
