RAWALPINDI: Pakistan authorities have detected an unauthorised transmitter being operated in the premises of India’s Deputy High Commission in Dacca and today [April 10] told the Deputy High Commissioner in Islamabad that it should be removed “forthwith”. — Correspondent
[Meanwhile, as reported by agencies in Dacca] Prof. Golam Azam, Ameer, Jamaat-i-Islami, East Pakistan, yesterday [April 9] warned over-enthusiastic leaders of India to immediately stop the nefarious act of playing with the fate of seven crore East Pakistanis. In a speech broadcast from Radio Pakistan, Dacca, Prof. Azam called upon the people to “be the architect of our own fate”. … [He said] … Today we are involved in an internal constitutional crisis and by taking advantage of the situation [India] has nakedly expressed her desire to extend active help to us and is apparently shedding crocodile tars for the miseries of the people of East Pakistan. …
[Agencies add from Dacca] A 140-member Citizens’ Peace Committee was formed here yesterday [April 9] with Khwaja Khairuddin as Convener to take steps for creating an atmosphere where normalcy in the day to day life of the citizens would be quickly restored. … The Committee has powers to co-opt similar committees to be formed at union and mohalla level for greater Dacca... .
