HYDERABAD: Girl from Bagh being treated in Jamshoro

HYDERABAD, Oct 19: A 15-year-old injured Kashmiri girl, Shazia, was admitted to the Jamshoro’s Liaquat University Hospital on Wednesday. She suffered a fracture in her right leg while her sister Fauzia, 15, died in the Sakhi Pir Bandia village of Bagh district when the earthquake of 7.6-magnitudes hit Kashmir, the NWFP and Punjab on October 8.

Shazia is daughter of Sharif Potohar, a retired serviceman who has 11 children, six daughters and five sons.

Sharif Potohar sent his family to Jamshoro to live with Pervez after the quake and went to Bagh himself.

Pervez is the cousin of the injured girl and is an employee in the Sindh irrigation department.

The girl’s brothers, Basheer and Jamil, work in Hyderabad.

The family said that they did not receive any aid for three days after the quake and therefore, they had to migrate from their area.

They said that their double-storied house collapsed in the incident and one of Shazia’s brothers, Nazeer, also received injuries.

NAZIM: Hyderabad District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has called for close coordination between the district government and all four taluka municipal administrations in order to provide basic facilities to people.

The district nazim took charge of his office and chaired a meeting of all executive district officers of the district government on Wednesday.

The EDOs of health, agriculture, education, community development, finance and planning, and revenue were present in the meeting.

Mr Jamil said that the people of Hyderabad had suffered badly due to sewage and drinking water problems.

He said that it was necessary to provide immediate relief to people in this area.

Seven trucks of relief goods were sent to the quake-stricken areas of Azad Kashmir in the presence of the nazim.

The Hyderabad district government had already sent a team of doctors to the Bagh district of Kashmir.
