Teenager killed during Swabi cricket match

SWABI: A teenager was killed when some players opened fire on him after an argument during a cricket match in Rassan Banda area of Razaar tehsil here on Tuesday.

Haji Hussain, father of the deceased Fahad Hussain, got registered FIR of the case with the Kalu Khan police station, stating that Hamza Khan and Ihetisham allegedly shot his son dead after a heated argument with him during the match.

Separately, a person identified as Naveed Khan drowned in the Pehur High Level Canal while bathing to beat the heat.

Search for his body was continuing. The victim belonged to Maneri village.

In a separate development, the management of the private schools and colleges has started online pre-board examinations amid closure of the educational institutions due to Covid-19 pandemic.

The heads of schools and colleges said the students’ time was important and they wanted to keep them engaged to prepare them for the upcoming board examinations.

Principal of a college said due to closure of educational institutions they won’t be able to conduct on-campus SSC and HSSC pre-board examinations, so the students would have to solve papers sitting at home.

Principal of another college said he had written to the students that they should continue with the pre-board examinations, and attempt the remaining papers at home.

They said the parents had been requested to make the exercise as transparent as possible by supervising their children when they attempted the papers.

When contacted, an official in the district education office told Dawn that it was a good step to keep the students engaged with studies to prepare them for the upcoming examinations.
