Man murdered for breaking off engagement in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: A man was gunned down for breaking an engagement in capital’s rural area.

The man, identified as Faisal was gunned down in D-12/3 over breaking an engagement, they added.

Faisal was engaged with a daughter of his friend, the police said, adding that however he broke the engagement and as a result, his friend, along with his Afghan wife and daughter came to Faisal’s house to inquire the matter.

The discussion turned to aggressive and both engaged in argument, they said, adding that during the argument both pulled out weapons and started firing on each other.

During the cross firing Faisal sustained bullet injury and the visitors left the house.

Later, the injured was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, they said adding that the police have registered a case and started investigation, besides tracing the suspects.

In another incident, robbers shot and injured a man during a robbery attempt on I. J. Principal Road, the police said, adding that Arshad Iqbal was intercepted by four persons armed with weapons on the road.

The robbers held him at gunpoint and asked to hand over cash and valuables, they said. When he put up resistance, the robbers opened fire on him.

As a result he suffered bullet injury, the police said, adding that shortly the robber escaped from the spot.

Moreover, two persons armed with weapons a medical store of Jhangir Awan in Blue Area and held the shopkeeper at gunpoint, they said adding the culprits looted Rs500,000 from the store and escaped.

Furthermore, robbers snatched cash from a man on I. J. Principal Road, the police said, adding that the incident took place with Kahsif Abbas when he reached there and two persons intercepted him and snatched cash and mobiles worth Rs200,000 at gunpoint and escaped.

In another robbery , two persons armed with weapons intercepted Aqeel Ahmed on Peshwar Road and snatched motorcycle from him and escaped.
