KP CM orders strict enforcement of business restrictions

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has taken notice of violation of standard operating procedure for Covid-19 in some areas of the provincial capital and directed the administration and police to ensure implementation of the guidelines to contain spread of the virus.

An official statement issued here on Monday said that chief minister visited various localities including University Road, Cantonment and city areas, GT Road in Peshawar and Pabbi area in Nowshera. He took stock of lockdown situation, implementation of SOPs, sanitation and traffic management.

Expressing his dissatisfaction over non-implemented of coronavirus SOPs in some of the areas. He directed the district administrations and police to ensure strict implementation of the SOPs.

He said that implementation of the SOPs was must to contain spread of the pandemic.

He directed the district administration to ensure strict implementation of SOPs and take legal action against the violators.

He also expressed dissatisfaction over poor condition of cleanliness on GT Road.

He directed the deputy commissioner to take immediate steps to improve the situation.

Expressing his displeasure over garbage found on both sides of GT Road in the limits of Pabbi, the chief minister ordered the tehsil municipal officer to remove all the garbage before Eidul Fitr or face action.

He also directed the authorities of National Highways Authority and tehsil municipal administration to take necessary steps to restore the greenbelts on certain portions of GT Road.

Mahmood Khan also paid a surprise visit to Pabbi police station, checked the record, inspected its various sections and met the detainees there.

He asked the inmates about the behaviour of police.

He ordered the head of the police station to behave with the detainees in polite manner and maintain proper record of the vehicles of law suit parked in the there.

Taking notice of unorganised traffic flow in some of the areas, he issued directives to DIG traffic police to deploy additional personnel in the areas and take necessary steps to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

Talking on the occasion, the chief minister termed provision of better civil facilities to people one of the focused areas of good governance strategy. He said that district administrations should discharge their responsibilities in an admirable manner.

He added that action would be taken against the quarters concerned in case of any negligence.

The chief minister also approved 60-day special remission on the occasion of Eid to all the prisoners in the province.

The special remission will not apply to the prisoners involved in offences under Anti-Terrorist Act and anti-state activities.
