GUJAR KHAN: Five youngsters drowned while swimming in River Jhelum near Pind Dadan Khan and Oghahun dam near Guliyana village in Gujar Khan.

According to details, four boys went to River Jhelum for swimming on Saturday. They were swimming near Victoria Bridge at River Jhelum near Hiranpur village when they lost balance. One of them, however, was rescued by the nearby people present at the spot.

According to Rescue 1122, the youngsters were friends and had gone for picnic on third day of Eid. The deceased have been recognized as Haris Kamran,18, Mohammad Husnain,20, Mohammad Usman,18, while 15 years old Mohammad Jabbar was rescued.

According to Rescue 1122, all youngsters belong to Dalmia area of Pind Dadan Khan and bodies were handed over to their families.

In the second incident, Two youngsters drowned in Oghahun dam near Guliyana village in Gujar Khan on Friday. The boys had gone to dam for swimming on second day of Eid and drowned when they lost balance in deep water.

According to Rescue 1122 in-charge Mr Usman, three boys had drowned in the dam while swimming on Friday. One of them was rescued while two lost their lives.

He said deceased have been identified as Atif Zahoor, 18, and Raja Shahzaib, 19, both residents of Gaakh Badhal area of Gujar Khan. Bodies were shifted to THQ Gujar Khan and were then handed over to their families, added Mr Usman.

In another incident, a woman committed suicide by taking pills in Sui Hafizan village near Bewal town of Gujar Khan on Saturday.
