Five suspects held on necrophilia charges

KASUR:Pattoki City police on Saturday held five suspects on charges of necrophilia at Burj Mahalam village.

Police will obtain physical remand of the suspects from the court on Monday for further investigation.

The complainant [brother of the deceased girl] had also submitted an application to the local court to exhume the body which was approved. The body will be exhumed on Sunday (today) to collect evidence for DNA analysis.

Meanwhile, local police had deputed personnel at the grave.

According to the first information report lodged under section 297-A of PPC against unidentified suspects, a 16-year-old girl had a natural death on May 11 and she was buried at village graveyard.

The next day when the complainant and other family members visited the graveyard, they found the grave open and the body exposed. The family suspected of rape.

[As mentioned in the FIR to justify the delay in reporting the crime to police], the complainant tried to investigate himself to trace the culprit but in vain.

On May 20, the police lodged a case and started investigations. Police, in the light of preliminary investigations, arrested five suspects of the village.

According to police, the suspects had no criminal record and were arrested on the suspicion of the complainant.
