FC man, 4 Uzbek labourers injured in Quetta blast
QUETTA: Five people, including a security man, were injured in a roadside explosion on the outskirts of the provincial capital on Monday.
Police said an improvised explosive device (IED) planted in the Qambrani road area was detonated with remote control.
“The IED was to target the personnel of Frontier Corps (FC) who were patrolling the area,” a senior officer said.
“One kilogram of explosive substance was used in the IED,” police said, quoting the bomb disposal squad which examined the explosion site.
An FC soldier, who was passing through the area on a motorbike, and four Uzbek labourers, including a 10-year-old boy, suffered injuries in the explosion.
The FC personnel and police rushed to the site and after cordoning off the area took the injured to the civil hospital’s trauma centre.
Police identified the injured as Bilal Ahmed, Gul Mohammad, Nizamuddin, Najeebullah and Abdul Qadeer.
The windowpanes of nearby shops were smashed.
