Three die as car hits motorcycles in Peshawar
PESHAWAR: Three persons died and 11 others sustained wounds when a speeding car hit four motorcycles on the Ring Road here on Monday afternoon, rescue officials said.
A Rescue 1122 spokesperson said a speeding car coming from the Hayatabad side crossed the median and hit motorcyclists, resulting into four deaths and 11 injuries.
He said three of the injured were in critical condition.
He said the car driver while trying to bring the vehicle under control hit a speed-breaker, veering into the opposite lane and crashing into four bikes.
In a statement, the Hayatabad Medical Complex said two bodies and nine injured were brought to the health facility, where one of the injured, Syed Nawaz, also succumbed to wounds.
The other two deceased were identified as Tahseenullah and Mohammad Noman. The injured included Mohammad Afzal, Gulab, Sajid, Ajmer Ali, Shah Jehan, Umer, Haris and Asif.
CCTV footage of the incident showed a speeding car coming from the opposite direction crash into motorcyclists. The vehicle hits four motorcycles before coming to a halt. Another car, which was following the motorcycles, also ran over the fallen bikes.
A police spokesperson said the car driver managed to escape from the scene, and the police were in the process of establishing his identity.
