Mardan bank’s cashier runs away during accounts audit
MARDAN: An official of the National Bank of Pakistan’s main branch here ran away after an audit team detected a fraud of Rs12 million in the accounts, sources said on Saturday.
They said that the bank audit had been going on for last few days when the team detected imbalance in the bank accounts.
During the audit, the accused identified as Ameer Zen, a cashier in the bank, went outside of the building on the pretext that he was bringing locker keys he had forgotten at home, but did not return.
When contacted, Jamal Nasir, the branch manager, confirmed to Dawn the fraud committed by the accused.
He said that they had moved an application with the Federal Investigation Agency for registration of FIR against the accused.
It is pertinent to mention here that another employee of the NBP branch had also committed fraud some four years ago.
