CDWP approves 15 projects worth Rs169bn

ISLAMABAD: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has cleared 15 projects worth Rs169.2 billion related to transport, communication and construction sectors.

A CDWP meeting chaired by Deputy Chairman Planning Commission (PC) Jehanzeb Khan has recommended four projects worth Rs124.09bn to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) for further consideration.

The CDWP cleared 11 development projects with a cumulative cost of Rs45.09bn.

Senior officials from PC and federal ministries also participated in the meeting while representatives from provincial governments participated through video link.

Schemes belong to communication, transport and construction sector

The CDWP recommended four projects to Ecnec for approval namely — Reconstruction of Zubaida Jalal road from M-8 Iranian border Radeeq to Turbat in Balochistan worth Rs12.020bn and construction of Panjgur-Gichak-Awaran road, Panjgur district worth Rs16.842bn.

It also recommended to Ecnec dualisation of Lilla Interchange (M-2) via P.D. Khan to Jhelum interchange bypasses (128km length), Jhelum district, at a cost of Rs13.648bn and Rs81.582bn for dualisation of 330.52km Khuzdar-Kuchlak section of National Highway (N-25).

The CDWP approved 11 projects worth Rs45.09bn. The break-up shows that an amount of Rs2.995bn approved for construction of 60km road from Buleda to Prom and Rs3.399bn for construction of a road from Prom to Jalgai.

It further approved Rs5.170bn for construction of a road from Prom to Chedgi and Rs2.363bn for construction of a road from Naag to Gichak and Rs348. 231 million for completion of Niheng bridge at Rodbun, Kech district.

The CDWP approved an amount of Rs8.770bn for widening/ improvement/ rehabilitation of road from Chowki wal (N-55) in Taunsa Tehsil to N-70 Chapper Balochistan via Zain, Bharti & Kharar Buzdar, DG Khan district, and construction of a road from Bahawalpur (N-5) to Jhangra Sharqi Interchange in Bahawalpur district at a cost of Rs3.900bn.

The body approved Rs2.019bn for upgrade of Kalabagh Shakarda road in Mianwali district, an amount of Rs2.454bn for dualisation of 12km Karan Dad Quershi-Qasba Gujrat road and Rs7.752bn for construction of approaches on both sides of Sheikh Khalifa Bridge

over River Indus along with guide banks in Rahim Yar Khan district and Rs5.916bn for dualisation of road from Mandi Bahauddin city to Sarai Alamgir Canal Pull, Main G.T. Road, via Rasool village (length 46km).
