Six killed in clash over land dispute in Kohat
KOHAT: Six people were killed and five others injured over a land dispute in Dheri Banda during an exchange of firing in a house here on Friday.
The incident occurred at 8am when two cousins Adam Khan and Mukhtiar had a brawl after which both started firing at each other. Soon other cousins from adjacent houses also came out and opened fire at each other.
The police gathered information from the severely injured victims and registered an FIR against the groups from both sides at 5pm. The funeral was held at 6pm.
The house in which the firing incident occurred is located between Dheri Banda and Kharmatu in the jurisdiction of Bilitang police station.
Bilitang SHO Irfan Afridi told Dawn that young cousins Ibrar and Nauman, sons of Adam Khan, Iqbal son of Mukhtiar and he himself, Abdal and Zewar Khan, sons of Gul Khan, died on the spot.
The injured were identified as Rehmat Khan, Manan Khan, Abuzar, Fazal Malik and Mst Baksha Bibi.
The bodies were taken to the KDA teaching hospital for autopsy and then handed over to the relatives for burial. The injured were admitted to the surgical ward after operations.
DIG Mohammad Zafar Ali and deputy commissioner Abdur Rehman visited the crime scene and asked the police to collect all evidences.
