ISLAMABAD: One death from Covid-19 and 40 new cases were reported in the capital on Tuesday. This was the lowest number of cases on a single day since October 12 when 35 people were found infected.

Officials of the capital administration said with one more death the toll increased to 766. The deceased was a woman and resident of Bhara Kahu.

During the last 24 hours, 3,033 tests were conducted and the positivity rate remained 1.3 per cent. Moreover, 147 patients recovered on Tuesday.On Monday, 66 cases of the virus were reported - 21 in the age group of 31-45, 13 in 0-10, 12 in 11-20, nine in 21-30, seven in 46-60 and four in 61-80. The District Health Office traced their 349 contacts – 147 aged between 21 and 30 years followed by 74 in the age group of 31-45, 78 in 11-20, 20 in 46-60 and 10 each in 0-10 and 61-80.

Seven more patients were hospitalised on Monday, the officials said, adding 100 patients were kept in hospitals and 89 of them were on oxygen and 11 on ventilators.

Rawalpindi

Four Covid-19 patients died and 25 more people were found infected in the district with the positivity rate recoded at 3.22pc.

Syed Hussain Mujtaba, 43, a resident of Adiala Road, was brought to Hearts International Hospital on June 7 where he died.

Saddiq Jan, 79, a resident of Murree, passed away at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) a day after beinf admitted there.

Mohammad Fayyaz Kiani, 76, a resident of Adiala Road, was brought to Isolation Hospital and Infection Treatment Centre on June 7 where he also died.

Rubina Bibi, 44, a resident of New Phagwari, died at Holy Family Hospital where she was brought on June 7.

In the Rawalpindi district, there are 395 active patients - 85 in hospitals and 310 patients home isolated. As many as 712 patients are waiting for their results.

As many as four of the new patients were brought to hospitals from cantonment areas, five from Potohar Town and six from Rawal Town.

Two patients each arrived from Gujar Khan and Taxila, one each from Murree and Jhelum and four patients from AJK.

Seven of the new patients were admitted in Holy Family Hospital, eight in Benazir Bhutto Hospital, 12 in Rawalpindi Institute of Urology, 17 in Fauji Foundation Hospital and one patient in Hearts International Hospital.

There are two patients on ventilators, 28 are on oxygen and 15 are stable.
