Balochistan police enter digital age, says Alyani

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani inaugurated a modern data command and communication centre at Central Police Office on Wednesday.

The chief minister also inaugurated smart male, smart women police stations besides Police Satellite Mobile Service Centre.

In a briefing on the occasion, police officials said the modern system would not only improve management of police stations’ record but also help in profiling of criminals and offences. Besides, investigation, operation, as well as discipline of personnel would be better managed with the help of the modern technology.

It was disclosed that the system would also be able to retrieve or integrate data of passengers, tenants as well as those staying at hotels.

Five more satellite police mobile service centres would be set up and surveillance systems would be introduced in 29 districts, the officials said.

While addressing the inaugural ceremony, Chief Minister Alyani said police digitization was the need of the hour and expressed the hope that crime rate would be reduced through improved strategy and mechanism.

He said that digitization of police system was an important step towards modern policing. He said Balochistan had entered the era of digitization, describing the command and communication centre as first step in the direction.

He said concrete measures were being taken to provide quality policing. He believed the use of latest technology would improve law and order in the province. He said that steps were also under way to make police a professional force with visible improvement in their conduct with people.

The chief minister congratulated police chief Mohammad Tahir Rai and his entire team for introducing the modern digitization system at police stations.

Provincial Finance Minister Mir Zahoor Buledi, Revenue Minister Mir Saleem Khosa, Adviser to the Chief Minister on information Bushra Rind, Chief Secretary Mathar Niaz Rana and other officials were also present.
