ANP stages protests against targeted killings
SWABI: Awami National Party workers on Thursday staged protest demonstrations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the call of party’s provincial president Aimal Wali Khan against targeted killings, landmine explosions and missing of citizens in parts of merged tribal districts.
In Swabi, ANP workers and local leaders gathered at the party office and marched to Karnal Sher Khan Chowk while chanting slogans against the government policies.
Addressing the protesters, district president Amanullah said that PTI leaders had done nothing for the poor people in their over seven years rule in the province.
In Buner, the district chapter of ANP staged a demonstration in front of press club in Daggar against Janikhel incident.
Party’s central working committee member Idress Khan, district president Karim Babak and others asked Pakhtuns to shun their petty differences and forge unity to fight for their rights.
In Karak, ANP district chapter workers took out a rally against lawlessness and targeted killings.
The rally was led by party’s district president Shah Nawaz Khattak. Referring to the Janikhel incident, the speakers said that the bloodshed of Pakhtuns should be stopped.
In Mardan, a protest demonstration was held against the alleged targeted killings, Janikheil incident and missing of citizens.
ANP leaders ShaziaAurangzib, district general secretary Haroon Khan, Nazia Shah led the protesting workers.
Speaking on the occasion, the party leaders condemned the growing incidents of targeted killing and missing of peaceful Pakhtuns. They criticised the rulers for failing to resolve the issues, including that of Janikheil tribe.
They claimed that ANP was the only political party in the country which could protect the rights of Pakhtuns. Such protests were also held in Chitral, Mohmand and other districts.
