NAWABSHAH: New check-points for vehicles set up

NAWABSHAH, Oct 26: Temp-orary check-points set up by the Excise police have created difficulties for residents. Excise police officials are stopping all vehicles including motorcycles, cars, rickshaws and trucks at different chowks of the city.

The residents said that they were asking for their registration documents, driver’s licence, radio licence and authority letters and impounding vehicles at police stations.

Some of the residents have alleged that excise police officials were extorting money by raising one objection or the other. They said that Nawabshah being a small city every resident did not carry driving licence, original documents and authority letters.

An official of the excise and taxation department said that he and his colleagues were carrying out orders to enforce rules.

Nawabshah Taluka Nazim Abdul Rauf Khan said that he would talk to the ETO and would tell him to stop checking of vehicles at Iftar time.
