LAHORE: The federal government has launched a survey in Lahore to assess the economic condition of the people, register the poor ones and provide them financial assistance under Ehsaas-i-Kifalat Programme.

In this regard, 31 centres will be established in the city where the citizens can also get them registered for financial assistance.

“To assess the socio-economic condition of the people, we have completed our surveys in all cities/towns, except Lahore where we are set to launch the survey from Monday,” programme chairperson Senator Sania Nishtar told reporters at a press conference on Saturday.

Flanked by Lahore Commissioner retired Capt Muhammad Usman, Ms Nishtar said modern tools/techniques were used to assess financial condition of the people. She claimed to have made the programme free from politics.

“We’ve so far registered 12 million families. And so far, we’ve provided assistance to 6.8 million people.

“People must stay away from rumors, swindlers and cheaters looting the people on the pretext of providing assistance under the programme,” she said.
