Smugglers arrested

The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) on Tuesday thwarted a bid to smuggle arms and ammunition and arrested two suspects near Hassanabdal.

According to the motorway police spokesperson Saqib Waheed, police officials were on a routine patrolling when they spotted a suspicious car parked on the side lane of Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway (M-1) near Burhan Interchange.

When the police reached the spot, they found two persons acting suspiciously in the car. During a search, the police recovered three rifles, 24 magazines and eight pistols along with 4,078 live rounds from the car.
