VEHICLE PARTS: While inviting automobile manufacturers to Pakistan, the government should bind them to provide spare-parts of the vehicles to consumers for at least 10 years so that they may easily have them replaced when needed. I purchased a Suzuki Wagon-R VXL car from an authorised dealership in 2015. Due to its heating issue, I have been advised to change its throttle body which is currently not available in Pakistan as the manufacturer changed the system in its car models from 2016 onwards. I am now left with a faulty car and no option, but to wait for God knows how long. I would appreciate if someone concerned can look into the matter.

DESCRIBING OBL: I am still trying to come to terms with what in particular stopped the foreign minister from commenting when he was asked about Osama Bin Laden during an interview. Regardless of the reason, his indecisiveness was a clear manifestation of the fault lines within the system. By letting a question pass, may be the foreign minister tried to play safe by not offending any side.

MISPLACED CONTROVERSY: During a recent interview, the prime minister’s remarks about women’s clothing invoked criticism from civil society and political circles. Factually speaking, the remarks were not totally incorrect, but were rather vague and there was enough scope for people to interpret it the way they wanted.

CALL DURATION TAX: The recent tax on mobile phone calls exceeding five minutes is a huge disappointment. Students rely heavily on phone calls to communicate with teachers, etc. Instead of facilitating them with affordable internet facilities and data services, the government has made the phone calls more expensive. Many students like me have to manage within the limited pocket money provided by their parents. This tax is only going to make their struggles worse.
