A teacher, Ghulam Moha-mmad Maitlo, told reporters here on Friday that in the Government High School Mahessar Wada there were about seven HST and JST teachers but they were not reporting for duty due to fear of being arrested by police.

He said that the police had arrested an on-duty primary teacher Abdul Sattar Maitlo from the Government Primary School Aslam Mahessar about four days ago.

He said that all the schools in the clash-hit area and about 80 per cent teachers of the Maitlo biradari were also facing the same situation.

He appealed the DPO Khairpur to provide protection to them against police excesses so that they could attend their schools.
