Two Nadra officials, agent held for ‘issuing CNICs to militants’
KARACHI: Two assistant directors of Nadra and an agent have been arrested over charges of preparing CNICs for militants and others in return for illegal gains, the director of FIA, Sindh, Amir Farooqi, said on Thursday.
Speaking at a press conference at his office, the FIA official said that Nadra’s certain employees had helped militants linked with TTP, AQIS and banned outfits of Baloch sub-nationalist groups get CNICs in return for some monetary gains.
He revealed that Imran Ali, an Indian citizen who was ‘involved in the Safoora carnage’, also had a Pakistani identity card.
Besides, the suspects involved in the Chinese consulate attack also got their identity changed.
“The Baloch militant group chief, Allah Nazar, and others got Nadra’s CNICs.”
“Several employees of Nadra’s Sindh office were involved in helping the terrorists get the cards.”
The director of FIA said that ‘foreign agencies’ worked on Nadra’s system and ‘damaged’ it.
“The deputy director of Nadra and some other employees were involved in the racket.”
