SAHIWAL: Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Akhter has been given additional charge of the University of Sahiwal VC for three months.

A notification issued by the Higher Education Department on behalf of the governor/chancellor under Section 12(9), read with Section 9(4) of the University of Sahiwal Act-2015 says the additional charge period is three months and it can be extended till the arrival of a new permanent VC.

Dr. Akhter is the second VC who has been granted the additional charge.

Last year, [permanent VC and Canadian national] Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nasir Afzal had sent his resignation from Toronto as he was reportedly fed up with the state of affairs. Later, University of Okara VC Dr. Zikria Zakir was tasked with the additional charge of the UOS and his tenure ended on June 22.
