Man’s nose, ears chopped off for ‘honour’
MUZAFFARGARH: Six people were arrested for chopping off the nose and ears of a man for an honor-related issue in Mahmoodkot’s Basti Khandoya on Thursday morning.
Muhammad Akram was busy in farm work when six people, led by Muhammad Farooq, took him to a sugarcane field where they cut off his nose and both ears and fled.
Later, his brother-in-law spotted him in a pool of blood and alerted others.
He was first shifted to the Qasba Gujrat Rural Health Centre to be shifted to Nishtar Hospital, Multan, for treatment.
Mahmoodkot SHO Mohammad Saleem Langrial arrested Farooq and later on other suspects under a case registered against them under sections 324, 334, 336, 148, and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The DPO said stern action would be taken against the accused. Regional Police Officer Mohammad Faisal Rana also took notice of the incident and praised the police who arrested the accused in a short time. The other arrested suspects are Mazhar, Qayyum, Sajjad, Azam and Abdul Rauf.
The police said Farooq suspected that Akram had an affair with his wife.
Also, the police arrested 65 liquor smugglers and seized 4,987 bottles of liquors from them. The crackdown started a day before Eid in all police stations of Muzaffargarh.
