RAWALPINDI: Six patients died from Covid-19 in Rawalpindi district and one in Islamabad during the last three days of Eidul Azha.

In Rawalpindi district, three people died while 41 tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday. On July 22 (Thursday), two people died and 19 tested positive, while on July 21 (Wednesday) one died and 93 tested positive for the virus.

Mohammad Altaf, 60, a resident of City area, was brought to Holy Family Hospital on July 22 where he died on Friday.

Bakht Bibi, 76, from Wah Cantonment lost battle against the disease at Quaid-i-Azam Hospital on Friday.

Osama Hussain, 70, came from Adiala Road to Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU) on July 22 where he died on Friday.

Cases fluctuated during this period

Mohammad Ibrar, 46, a resident of New Shakriyal, was shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences on July 21 where he died on the following day.

Kalsoom Bibi, 70, from Akalgarh Mohallah died at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences on July 22. Waseem Ali, 36, a resident of Sanjli, was brought to RIU on July 11 where he died on July 21.

There are 804 active patients in Rawalpindi district and of them 160 are in the hospitals, including 20 from other districts, and 644 patients home isolated.

On Friday, almost all 42 patients arrived in Rawalpindi hospitals from the city areas with 11 patients each coming from Cantonment areas and Potohar Town and nine from Rawal Town. Besides, six patients arrived from Taxila and one each from Gujar Khan and Murree while Islamabad, Attock and Chakwal saw one patient each.

At present, 28 patients have been admitted to Holy Family Hospital, 18 to Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH), 37 to Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU), 22 to Fauji Foundation Hospital (FFH) and two patients to Bilal Hospital.

There are five patients on ventilator in Rawalpindi and 54 on oxygen while 48 are stable.

Islamabad

The federal capital on Friday saw death of one patient and 51 new cases of the virus.

Officials of the capital administration said the death of a woman was reported in the age group of 70-79. However, her address was not known, they added.

The death toll from the Covid-19 reached 789, they said, adding that out of the total 500 were men and 289 women.

They said 232 deaths were reported in the age group of 60-69, followed by194 in 70-79, 137 in 50-59, 110 in 80-89, 59 in 40-49, 28 in 30-39, 23 in 90 and above, four in 20-29 and one each in 0-9 and 10-19.

The officials said 1,174 tests were conducted during the last 24 hours, which found the virus in 28 women and 23 men while the positivity rate was 4.34pc.

They said 13 cases were reported in the age group of 30-39, followed by 11 in 20-29, eight in 40-49, five each in 60-69 and 70-79, four in 50-59, three in 10-19 and two in 0-9.

The tally of the Covid-19 cases in capital reached to 85,230, they said, adding that out of the total 49,761 were men and 35,469 women.

So far, 18,131 cases were reported in the age group of 30-39, followed by 15,797 in 20-29, 12,991 in 40-49, 10,523 in 50-59, 9,118 in 0-9, 7,242 in 10-19, 6,895 in 60-69, 2,970 in 70-79 and 1,091 in 80 and above, they said, adding that age group of 472 patients was not known.

The capital has so far 2,107 active cases.
