COVID VACCINE
COVID VACCINE: My wife was injected with Sinopharm Covid vaccine, but the hospital staff mistakenly put Sinovac in the relevant proforma. We went back to the hospital, but the staff had no authority to edit the data. We lodged a complaint with the NIMS portal on July 7 (Complaint No. 10168). However, there is no corrective action yet. The helpline staff keeps referring us back to the portal. Will somebody help us get the critical record corrected?

LACK OF DOCTORS: I had to accompany my younger brother recently to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, Daggar. To my surprise, there was no urologist in the entire hospital and a general physician was attending to just about everyone. This sorry state of affairs is due to excessive political interference in what happens to be the leading hospital in the district. The authorities concerned should do something urgently about the healthcare delivery mechanism.

P.E.C. CERTIFICATES: Recently, the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) allowed young engineers to apply for supervisory certificates, giving them a short notice in this regard. Owing to haphazard advertisements in newspapers and on digital platforms, most of the engineers missed the opportunity to get themselves registered. The PEC would do well to extend the registration date, because it had failed to advertise the matter properly.

C.S.S. CRAZE: The Central Superior Services (CSS) examination is just an examination, but unfortunately our society has made it a yardstick to measure one’s intellectual capability. Aspirants are getting too serious about the matter because of the perks and privileges that a CSS officer stands to get. Those who fail the examination go into depression, doubting their own abilities and capabilities. Our society needs to change its behaviour in this regard. The earlier, the better.
