Man attempts suicide after killing wife in Attock
TAXILA: A man attempted suicide after allegedly shooting his wife dead over a domestic dispute in a remote and far-flung village of Dhoke Hafizabad in the jurisdiction of Bassal police station of Attock on Friday. Quoting family sources, the police said the suspect shot his wife - mother of four - with his pistol after arguing with her. The victim died on the spot. Later, he attempted suicide by shooting himself with the same pistol. He was taken to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital from where he was shifted to Rawalpindi due to his critical condition. The body of the woman was handed over for burial after autopsy at THQ hospital.
Moreover, four others died in different incidents in various parts of Attock.
In the first incident, a man was killed over a land dispute in Malhuwala village in Gandakas Union Councilin the jurisdiction of Pindigheb police station. Police sources said there was a land dispute between the suspects and Hakim Khan. Hakim Khan was working on his land when he was killed by his rivals.
Separately, Qazi Rashid Dawood, who was working in Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) Fatehjang sub-division as assistant lineman, went to repair an electric pole and was electrocuted to death during maintenance work.
Moreover, a motorcyclist died after being hit by a speeding dumper on G.T. Road near Burhan interchange in the jurisdiction of Hassanabdal police station. Police sources said 20-year-old Hanan Akbar was travelling on his motorcycle when a dumper, recklessly driven by an unknown driver, hit him. He died on the spot.
Another pedestrian died after being hit by a speeding car in the jurisdiction of Fatehjang police station. Police sources said a senior citizen identified as Master Riaz was going home when a car driven by Zaryab hit him. The injured was taken to Rawalpindi where he succumbed to his injuries. Respective police registered three separate cases and started further investigation.
Man arrested
A man was arrested red handed for selling drugs near a graveyard in the jurisdiction of Hassanabdal police station on Friday. Police sources said acting on a tip off, police arrested the suspect, a native of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for selling drugs to potential customers. Drugs were also recovered from his possession and were confiscated accordingly.
Moreover, Jand police arrested a motorcycle thief and recovered three stolen motorcycles from his possession.
