Private schools allowed to teach books of private publishers

LAHORE: The Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB) has allowed private schools to teach books of private publishers under the Single National Curriculum (SNC).

The PCTB has issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) to the books of private publishers under uniform syllabus. The board has issued approval to the books from grade 1 to 10. Around 125 books of private publishers have been approved for teaching in schools as textbooks.

Meanwhile, the SNC teachers training programme is continuing but most of the teachers show least interest in it.

The School Education Department has taken notice of the issue and decided to take action against the teachers involved in quitting training.

According to a training report, district Kasur stood first in achieving the training target under uniform syllabus while Jhelum was second and Layyah third.

Lahore district is 32nd, Jhang is 36th, Faisalabad is on 17the position, Hafizabad 18th, Rajanpur 23rd, Sahiwal 25th, Chiniot 12th, Multan 34th, Rawalpindi 10th and Sialkot 33rd.

The SED officials have sought the list of the teachers who did not participate in the training and plans action against them under the PEEDA Act.The SNC for Grade 6 to 8 will be implemented from next academic year, while for Grade 9 to 12 will be implemented from academic year 2023-24.
